From the Palo Pinto, Texas historical book, with a citation to Turk, Dr. T.R.,' Indian Depredations in Parker and Palo Pinto Countries'

"On June 26, 1872, there occurred another running pursuit. This time the Indians were doing the chasing. Chesley S. Dobbs, Justice of the Peace for Palo Pinto County, was run down and killed in Pleasant Valley. The Indians were pursued the next day to Old Painted Camp near the south of Big Keechi. There Chesley Dobbs' scalp was recovered."

I believe this was also from the Palo Pinto, Texas historical book prepared by their committee in 1978.(page 601) "Dobbs Valley Cemetery---9 1/2 mi. south of Mineral Wells and 1/2 mile east on county road. Named for Chesley S. Dobbs, killed by Indians, 6-6-1882."
