1. I have a photo (wedding?) of Katie and Fredrick;a family picture of Katie, Fredrick, Fritz "Dick", Henry A., Effie, and Freda "Ethel" taken in the early 1920's. These are displayed in our house.

2. There is an aerial photo of the family farm on Pangborn Road and one of F.B. Ehlers up on a power pole beside a rural road in the plastic storage box with other pictures.

3. Folder contains a letter dated November 26, 1929 to F.B. concerning his service in the Washington State National Guard or military department; two notices, June 29, 1921 and April 9, 1926, from Whatcom County Sheriff A.L. Callahan, making F.B. a deputy sheriff and a special deputy sheriff;a report card for F.B. dated March 7, 1900 for the 5th grade at Clearbrook School; a letter from N.A. Ehlers, his mother, to F.B. in the hospital, dated May 14, 1942.

4. Story by Effie Ehlers Fowler, undated.

"When my Dad was a young man he acquired a piece of land across the road from his Dad and Mother's place. Shingle bolts & timber were sold and the hard job of clearing the land started so that there could be pasture land and hay fields. This clearing land went on all the many years we children were growing up. Today all is very well kept. I can remember Henry too small to harness Dan. He would come up to the house and ask me to help put the harness on. Then he would go down to the southeast corner of the farm and snake out the underbrush and make piles to burn. Throughout the years the huge stumps were blasted and burned one by one. One near fatal accident happened when my Dad & Henry were working with the stump puller. A chain must have slipped and caused the sweep to swing backwards. It caught Henry square across the stomach and he was knocked unconscious. I do believe that is the cause of him needing surgery at this time. I'm sure it has been a bother ever since that accident."

"The farm is twenty acres smaller than when it was first acquired. Before Mom and Pop were married, Pop mad a deal with Ernest Friend. He gave Ernest twenty acres of land on the west end of the place if he would help with the slashing of the underbrush on the rest of the place. We children knew it as the Olaf Matson farm and today it is owned by Tobe Higginson."

5. Story by Effie Ehlers Fowler, undated.

"I was too young to remember when the Puget Sound Power & Light first put the line in on Pangborn Road. But I can remember Fred Saxauer patrolling on his motorcycle. Later on as I got older I remember helping cook meals for the crew. Pop was powder man and did the blasting. We still have an old picture of Nooksack Falls with our old car in the foreground. A few years later a phone was installed. We could phone direct to P.S.P.L in Bellingham. Our house was sort of a report in station. Stone Falls in Canada, Nooksack Falls & York Street Station were on the same line. We had to stand on an insulated stool to use the phone in case of shock from the line. One time (must have been in the early 1920's) there was quite a storm. There was a bad sleet. Everything was covered with ice & got thicker by the hour. There was a wire stretched between two sticks & I remember Mom had to measure the thickness on the wire and phone it to Bellingham at regular intervals. Finally the wires got so weighted down with ice and a little breeze came up. I remember I watched one pole after another come crashing to earth in a tangle of hot wires. It took quite awhile and a lot of men to get the line back in business. The York Street Station had to go full speed. All of the people in the county had nice cedar wood that year."

6. Folder contains a story written in 1972 by Arthur Brubaker (adopted name Weide) about life in the Clearbrook area and F.B.'s help.
